AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT)

AVNRT is a benign type of arrhythmia that is characterized by fast, regular palpitations that start and stop quite suddenly.

What is AV nodal reentrant tachycardia?

This benign arrhythmia is characterized by fast, regular palpitations that start and stop quite suddenly. Ablation of the faulty electrical pathway has been shown to achieve good results. For patients with recurrent episodes of AVNRT, catheter ablation is the treatment of choice. The use of ablation procedures to remove one of the electrical pathways is associated with a high success rate (> 95 %).
