Cardiac Surgery

The Cardiac Surgery Team includes the Head of Department, Senior Physicians, Specialist Physicians, Resident Physicians and members of our nursing staff. Our Specialist Physicians come from the fields of cardiac surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care medicine, and hold additional qualifications in hemostasis and wound management. The Department is responsible for treating all adult patients with heart and vascular disorders, and specializes in reconstructive and minimally-invasive procedures.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Johannes Albes is the Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, specializing in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery. Since 2015 Prof. Albes has been appointed as Professor of Cardiac Surgery, holding a chair at the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane. He is Extraordinary Professor at the University of Jena, and teaches Health Care Management at the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
