Dr. med. Georg Fritz, the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Management, manages the professional training course in TEE. The course is organized in accordance with the guidelines of the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI), and provides the foundation for a certification in "Transesophageal Echocardiography in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine". This course is accredited by the Brandenburg Chamber of Physicians and is worth 20 CME credits.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Johannes Albes, the Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, holds a lectureship in Project Management and Organizational Development at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, where he teaches as part of the MBA in Health Care Management.

Faculty of Medicine, Friedrich Schiller University of Jena:

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Johannes Albes, Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, is an Extraordinary Professor (not holding a chair) at the University of Jena, and has regular teaching commitments as well as acting as an examiner for the "Staatsexamen" (State examination).

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Thorax-, Herz, und Gefäßchirurgie (German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery):

As the hospital's certified Wound Care Manager, Dr. med. Kühnel, Senior Physician in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, was invited to join the Board of the Chronic Wound Working Group in order to contribute to the development of guidelines for the treatment of chronic wounds, and to optimize current training provisions for new generations of staff in the field of cardiac surgery.

Competence Center "Medizin im Grünen"

This Competence Center offers a combination of specialist training and relaxation in stunning surroundings ("Medizin im Grünen" meaning "medicine in the countryside"), and has been working in cooperation with the Department of Cardiac Surgery to offer practical courses as part of specialist training and continued professional development for physicians from the field of cardiac surgery.
The courses offered provide practical training in surgical procedures in a realistic training environment, and include coronary artery bypass surgery, as well as aortic valve replacement surgery and the implantation of aortic prostheses using cardiopulmonary bypass. This course is unique in Germany and is highly sought-after by resident physicians from a number of cardiac surgery departments across Germany and other German-speaking countries. The courses offered have been awarded excellent evaluations.
